Dr. Brown earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Clinical Supervision from UNC Charlotte and his Master of Science in Counselor Education from East Carolina University.
He has extensive training and over 10 years of experience in individual, family, and group counseling and has worked with individuals of all ages, from young children to senior citizens. His expertise is geared primarily towards adolescents, teens, and adults, mainly with normal situational and developmental issues.
Dr. Brown has also worked with clients dealing with challenges ranging from low self-esteem and general anxiety to severe depression, trauma, and suicidal ideation. His work and practice has involved the special populations of those with mild to moderate mental and physical health conditions, and disabilities. Dr. Brown also provides counseling to LGBTQ individuals, military families, and veterans and Spanish speaking families.
Dr. Brown has counseled in high schools, as well as in higher education environments, including East Carolina University, UNC Charlotte, Central Piedmont Community College and Gaston College.
He also possesses ample counseling experience in community mental health centers, group practices, and working with various agencies such as area departments of Social Services and Juvenile Justice.
Dr. Brown follows the ethical standards of practice established by the American Counseling Association and he is licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina.
